The things people say when they can be on anon.
Just because Harry and Hermione as a ship aren’t canon, we’re supposed to just ‘get over it’? It doesn’t fucking work that way. . In a way, you are insulting every non-canon ship out there.
I’ve shipped Harry and Hermione since i was 11. To me, they were there from the beginning. Like JK Rowling said, “It could have gone that way.”
For Morgana and Circe!
Being an idiot is a requirement to ship Romione? Or all of you are as abusive as Bilius is?
Enjoy your hate while I enjoy my ship and the fact that they are canon.
people who make statements as this make me ship hhr only harder, you have no lives, you can’t deal with people who ship different couples like harmony, drarry, lurry, dramione etc, you can’t even enjoy your canon endgame because you’re so pathetic and keep up insulting people like us who will NEVER CHANGE their minds!
so it could have gone that way and I know it hurts being shoved up your asses but you can’t do something about it, it’s dear JKR’s words and you should deal with it!
I’m trying not to think all Romione shippers are idiots but it’s a bit difficult right now. *desperately tries to think of canon shippers who are good and tolerant*
I will break down why THIS particular person is an idiot, because they might read this comment, and it would be helpful to them if they knew the minute details of their idiocy.
This person is an idiot because:
1. They did not say that they hate H/Hr as a ship. This in itself is not problematic. What is problematic is saying that you hate the PEOPLE who ship H/Hr. It makes no sense why anyone would personally hate an H/Hr shipper whom they have never met them. If your car broke down in the middle of the street and a stranger came to help you, would you still hate that stranger because they were an H/Hr shipper? And if someone saw you were in need of help but didn’t stop to help you, would you still like them because they were an R/Hr shipper? This is what I mean—such hate for H/Hr shippers is IRRATIONAL. It reflects more on the person that hates rather than the person that is hated on. It reflects their narrow-minded tunnel vision that sees only the fact that they ship H/Hr and nothing else.
2. Secondly, this person feels the need to patronize readers by saying: “It’s obviously been Hermione and Ron from the beginning.” They are immediately assuming that because Hermione and Ron happened, this FACT must automatically influence our PREFERANCE. In short, this canon shipper has demonstrated the inability to differentiate between a fact and a preference. Hermione and Ron got married, and so did Harry and Ginny, but we are under no obligation as readers who VOLUNTARILY read these books, to accept these pairings. That is like saying: “Winter is a season. This is a fact. Therefore I must like winter.” Such misguided and faulty thinking can easily spill over into more dangerous territory, such as for instance, saying that because only heterosexual relationships can produce children, everyone must prefer such relationships, as this is the norm, and anyone who prefers something outside of the norm must “get over it.” Which brings me to my next point.
3. The most idiotic part of this sentence is the line, “get over it.” Such intelorence to differences of opinion is not only disgusting, it is dangerous (see point number two for reasons why). Furthermore, this person has said that we must “get over it” because “it’s obviously been Hermione and Ron from the beginning.” This is a flat out lie. JKR has clearly said in many of her interviews that it only became apparent by book four that Hermione and Ron were interested in each other romantically. In the first three books there were no hints whatsoever that Hermione preferred Ron to Harry, especially because by the third book Harry was already contemplating the idea of Hermione and Ron never speaking to each other. If anything, Hermione’s friendship with Harry continued to grow stronger, and furthermore, most of her meaningful scenes in the first three books were with Harry. Therefore, the idea that it has ”obviously” been Hermione and Ron from the beginning is ludicrous and flat out untruthful.
4. It is ironic that H/Hr shippers are constantly told to “get over it” and yet, it is idotic R/Hr shippers like this person who cannot accept what JKR said about H/Hr: “it could have gone that way.” And while we like to single out this specific line, there is a whole conversation JKR had with Melissa Anelli, the author of Harry: A History, where she discusses H/Hr’s romantic possibilities, particularly in the last book, and how the “enormously insightful” screenwriter, Steve Kloves, awakened her to these possibilities. And JKR was very clear about the fact that the canon pairings were her personal preference because she had “always planned” that those couples should end up together. However, she was also very clear about the fact that “just because someone had a view on Harry/Hermione didn’t mean that they weren’t genuine, or that they were necessarily misguided.” These are JKR’s own words. Harry/Hermione shippers are not disingenuous Harry Potter fans, and just because our ship wasn’t endgame, doesn’t mean that we were misguided and reading too much into what she wrote. On the contrary, JKR has admitted herself that there was a basis for our ship, because “Hermione shares moments with Harry that Ron will never be able to participate in.” And these moments are not only in the last book but in all seven books. If R/Hr shippers like to squee over the moments shared between Hermione and Ron, well, H/Hr shippers like to do the same with regards to our ship, and we have many more moments to draw from. Our ship was not endgame, but it was certainly canon.
To conclude, not only is this intolerant R/Hr shipper displaying irrational hate for a ship, but the PEOPLE who ship H/Hr, they are also demonstrating either a) an ignorance of JKR’s own understanding of H/Hr as a possible pairing or b) a willful disregard for what she has said despite having knowledge of it. And worst of all, they are displaying a complete disregard for the core values of the Harry Potter novels as a whole by so blatantly displaying hatred towards members of the same fandom and baiting them through such graphics.
